Naku te rourou nau te rourou,

Ka ora ait e iwi

During a Civil Defence Emergency, communities can become isolated from outside help and resources. A marae Emergency Preparedness plan supports iwi, hapū and ahi ka to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergency events. The planning process involves, collaborates with and empowers iwi. Marae have always played an integral role in supporting the community during emergency events providing a meeting place, food, accommodation and more to support the community.

The Marae Emergency Preparedness Planning Implementation Strategy outlines how Marae Emergency Preparedness Planning will be delivered (annually) to ensure the needs of ahi ka are met.
