MetService New Zealand has issued a Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Rotorua.
It's been detected over the hill in the Waikato, but its moving southeast and expected to impact around Rotorua, Reporoa, Waiotapu, Waikite Valley, Golden Springs, Lake Tarawera, Okere Falls, Ngongotahā, Waireka and Guthrie at approximately 4pm.
These thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by very heavy rain, which can cause surface and/or flash flooding about streams, gullies and urban areas, and make driving conditions extremely hazardous.
Safety first during this time, especially if you're travelling in these areas.
